A legacy of faith

John and I recently took a 5 day vacation to Prague, Czech Republic. We went with all Israelis so the guide spoke Hebrew when he was not speaking Czech!

Since my heritage from my father's side is Czech Moravian, I wanted to see that country, although I do not know any relatives there.  I was surprised that in Prague, the bakeries did not have any of the wonderful kolaches my Grandmother would make. I was told Prague is Bohemian and the baked items were in the southeatern part of the country, Moravia.

So we ventured out on a 3 hour train to a small town in a rural area (no wonder my family are farmers). And mind you, there is less English spoken there! It was a delightful day and for some reason, I grew to appreciate my family even more. My grandfather who died when I was only 3 years old, was born on the ship to America. Like many Czech families, they settled in central Texas.  Being Moravian is pretty special too... they had the longest prayer meeting in history, over 100 years of praying for the world to know Christ.

After returning to Prague, John was insistent we find a painting of Harvest time done by a Czech artist.  So pictured is our newest painting done in the early 1900's.  It is small and now hangs over me in the bedroom.

I am mindful that someone in my family prayed for me and passed down a legacy of faith in God. What a magnificent blessing!  So ask yourself today, who has prayed for you, what grandmother or great great great uncle? And then do the same and pray for your children and the future generations which are "in you."

Fields of Faith....

Vicki,

What a beautiful website and I loved this section on Czech Republic. We, Unity of The Brethren (which is also Czech background as you know, Unitas Fratas) have just started working with a group out of Dallas, Fields of Faith to reach out in Moravia with the love of Jesus. We have two home-grown missionaries who will be working the area. I just think it is so interesting and of God, Prayerfields and Fields of Faith!  WoW. Again a very beautiful and powerful website.

Showers of Blessings,

Jim & I also want to visit Czech

vicky,

Jim & I have often wanted to visit the Czech Repub, because of Jim's shared heritage with you!  Was it all you hoped for?  I hope the website is all you hope for.  Love, Cindi

One of the most beautiful cities

Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in he world and it was filled with tourists. But farther outside of the city, we met locals.  Most of the young people do not marry and are atheists. But I sensed a light in the region, someone praying for a nation desperate to know the truth.

C, please go...Prague was the only major city not bombed in WWII and so its buildings are majestic and the protestant history is pervasive. V
